The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued the proposed federal staffing mandate for nursing homes in early September in the Federal register with a 60 day comment period. The staffing mandate includes a different timeline for implementation for urban and rural nursing homes and the full mandate is proposed to be implemented over a three-year period.
