Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) published a final regulation and guidance 9/9/2014 allowing pharmacies including ones in LTCF and Hospitals to
take back controlled substances for disposal or provide pre-paid mailing envelopes for companies who dispose of drugs.
Previously it was prohibited under federal law and often hindered or limited these take back programs
