Our client, a respected non-profit continuing care retirement community in Centre County, PA, is seeking an Interim Director of Nursing to provide support during a transition period. This organization is dedicated to providing high-quality care for older adults across a wide range of services, including Skilled Nursing, Independent Living, Personal Care, and Memory Care. Position Details:
Setting: 46-bed skilled nursing facility on a 23 acre campus
Schedule: 40 hours per week, primarily day shift, Monday through Friday, with some on-call responsibilities
Duration: Through the end of September 2026, with potential to extend
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize, and supervise all nursing services within the skilled nursing facility to ensure high-quality, resident-centered care.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to the Health Information Coordinator, Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinator/Infection Preventionist, Clinical Supervisor, and nursing personnel.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote individualized care, maximize resident functioning, develop care plans and programming, and ensure continuity of care across the healthcare continuum.
- Interpret and implement policies established by the Board of Trustees and ensure compliance with all applicable licensing, regulatory, quality assurance, infection prevention, and surveillance requirements.
- Assist in the preparation and administration of operating and capital budgets for Skilled Nursing.
- In partnership with Human Resources, recruit, interview, recommend staffing levels, oversee scheduling, maintain job descriptions, conduct performance evaluations, address performance concerns, coordinate orientation for new nursing personnel, and support employee recruitment, retention, and professional development.
- Plan, coordinate, and maintain required staff education, in-service training programs, and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements. Encourage professional growth and provide and participate in opportunities for staff development
- Develop, implement, and maintain nursing objectives, standards of practice, policies, and procedures based on professional standards, evidence-based practice, and industry trends.
- Oversee Skilled Care clinical supply inventory to ensure adequate resources for resident care.
- Participate in and support Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI), Infection Control, Corporate Compliance, Risk Management, recruitment and retention, and other assigned committees.
- Maintain open communication and effective working relationships with physicians, residents, families, staff, and external healthcare providers, including therapy services, pharmacy, dietitians, and community healthcare facilities.
- Coordinate nursing services with all resident service departments to promote resident and staff safety and ensure residents receive prescribed treatments, medications, diets, preventive care, and other health services with appropriate documentation.
- Conduct daily rounds in all nursing care areas and maintain a contingency plan for Clinical Supervisor responsibilities during absences.
- Oversee employee and resident immunization programs, tuberculosis screening, Medicare determinations, and billing-related clinical information.
- Support the organization’s mission by assisting residents to achieve the highest possible level of independence throughout the continuum of residential and healthcare services.
Qualifications:
- Active, unencumbered PA RN license.
- Valid CPA Card
- BS. in Nursing, with emphasis on/or certification in gerontological nursing and at least one year’s supervisory experience in a long-term care setting.
OR:
- A diploma in Nursing with emphasis on/or certification in gerontological nursing and 5 years’ experience as a supervisor in a long-term care setting. Additional experience in areas of rehabilitative and geriatric nursing is preferred.
- Three to five years of management experience required, in a healthcare or related setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including medication and drug dosage calculations, accurately and efficiently.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including word processing, email, and other standard office software. Must be able to complete routine documentation and office-related tasks using a computer.
