The Director of Nursing is responsible for the organization, supervision, administration and overall management of the
nursing services program.
Full Time | On-Call Rotation
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred
Active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse licensure required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or ability to obtain
Active or ability to obtain Wound Certification and Infection Preventionist Certification
Three years’ experience working in Geriatric, Long Term Care or Rehab setting
One year management or supervisory experience
Knowledge of federal and state regulations
Ability to lead and instruct staff
Excellent communication skills
- Responsibilities and Expectations:
Develops and maintains nursing policies, procedures, objectives and practice standards.
Prepares staffing schedules within budgetary guidelines and ensures; assists with budget process
Maintains and prepares records, documentation and reports as required by policies and regulations.
Acts as a catalyst for quality improvement.
Performs daily rounding on residents and staff.
Remains compliant with all federal, state, local and corporate regulations.
Creates, maintains and supports a safe work environment and work practices.
Supervises medical records service.
Responsible for the Comprehensive Resident Assessment and the Interdisciplinary Plan Of Care process.
Assists with maintenance of nursing policies, procedures, objectives and standards of practice.
Reviews and makes recommendations related to recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, supervision and
corrective action for nursing staff; responsible for appropriate documentation related to these tasks.
Evaluates job performance of professional staff and reviews peer evaluations for assigned staff.
Participates in preparation of nursing schedules to assure adequate staffing and quality care.
Provides input and direction to the nursing Quality Assurance Program.
Conducts regular staff meetings for all shifts.
Maintains accurate resident census reports.
Assists with licensure and certification tracking.
Maintains budgetary control of supply inventory, cost containment and staffing.
Develops positive relationships and is accessible to all residents, families, visitors and staff.
Promotes and supports culture of patient centered care and service.
