Purchase Individual Symposium Sessions

Below you can review each of the sessions from our Summer Symposium on Quality and purchase individual videos with handouts.

Session 1 – The Story Behind the Tags: What Deficiencies are Telling Us

Educators are: Danielle Martin, MSN, RN, NHA, CHC, LNC and Kerry Weaver RAC-CT, RAC-CTA, RN

During this session we will focus on survey findings, what they mean, and how they are identified. We will review the most frequently cited deficiencies and break down potential root causes behind them, going beyond the citation itself to understand the operational and clinical gaps that lead to noncompliance. By the end of this session, you will have a stronger understanding of survey trends and be better equipped to anticipate and mitigate potential citations before they occur.

Fee: $70 for both PADONA member and non-member

Session 2 – From Reaction to Readiness – Don’t Just Fix It – Prevent It!

Educators are: Danielle Martin, MSN, RN, NHA, CHC, LNC and Kerry Weaver RAC-CT, RAC-CTA, RN

This session covers the Plan of Correction process, including requirements, what surveyors expect in responses, and how to develop compliant, sustainable corrective actions. We will also discuss strategies for shifting from reactive correction to proactive prevention—such as building strong systems, ongoing audits, accountable teams, and daily compliance. The goal is to equip you with practical tools to maintain continuous survey readiness, so your facility is “always survey ready”.

Fee: $70 for both PADONA member and non-member

Session 3 – Recognizing Coercive Control in Nursing Homes: What Leadership Needs to Know

Educators are: Mae Reale and Lindy Keefe

Intimate partner violence in later life (IPVILL) often presents subtly in long-term care settings, frequently through patterns of coercive control. This session will equip nursing administrators and leaders with the skills to recognize behavioral and environmental indicators that may signal compromised resident autonomy and safety. Participants will explore how these dynamics can be misinterpreted as caregiving or family stress, and how leadership can support staff in identifying and responding to concerns appropriately.

Fee: $70 for both PADONA member and non-member

Session 4 – From Concern to Action: Policy, Reporting, and Team Response to IPV in Long-Term Care

Educators are: Mae Reale and Lindy Keefe

This session focuses on how nursing leadership can respond effectively when concerns about intimate partner violence arise within a facility. The session will address common challenges such as managing visitation concerns, responding to disclosures, and supporting staff navigating complex situations. Leaders will leave with practical strategies to strengthen internal processes, support interdisciplinary teams, and engage community partners.

Fee: $70 for both PADONA member and non-member
